The Athens Tech Foundation has announced its third annual Illuminate Gala, scheduled for April 17, 2025, at The Classic Center. This event aims to celebrate the impact of Athens Technical College on workforce development and build upon last year's success, which raised over $150,000.

Janis Mangum will deliver the keynote address. She was elected as the first female Sheriff of Jackson County in 2012 and became Georgia Sheriff of the Year in 2023. Known for her commitment to public service and education, Mangum retired at the end of her term in 2024.

The Foundation's mission since 1988 has been to support Athens Technical College by partnering with the community to develop today's workforce and prepare for future needs. It provides scholarships, emergency assistance, GED vouchers, and funds campus improvements.

Graham Joyner, Chair of the Athens Tech Foundation, emphasized the importance of investing in students: “Aligning with and investing in the future of our community through our students is truly impactful. The funds we raise at the gala will resonate for generations.”

In 2024 alone, over $92,000 was awarded in merit and financial need scholarships by the Foundation. Additionally, $23,000 went towards retention grants and more than $14,000 supported emergency needs such as tuition and supplies not covered by financial aid.

ATC President Andrea Daniel expressed gratitude for community support: “The generous support of this community enables our students to seize upon remarkable opportunities... By joining forces, we can guarantee that the promise of higher education is extended to every deserving student.”

Individual tickets are priced at $160 and include a reception and seated dinner. Sponsorships start at $500. Tickets can be purchased online at AthensTech.edu/FoundationIlluminate or by contacting them directly via phone or email. Silent auction donations are also being accepted.

The evening will feature a cocktail reception, silent auction, wine pull, and testimonials from scholarship recipients.
