World Ballet Company has announced its latest production, a ballet adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," set to premiere in Athens. The company, known for its Broadway-style ballets, will tour the production across over 140 cities in the United States from February 6 to November 24.
Producer Gulya Hartwick, who co-founded World Ballet Company with Sasha Gorskaya, expressed the company's mission: "This year, we’re doing that with one of the most important stories of 20 century literature classic." She invited both ballet enthusiasts and newcomers to experience this new production.
The ballet adapts F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel about love and the American Dream during the Roaring Twenties. The creative team includes choreographer Ilya Zhivoy, composer Anna Drubich, set designer Sergei Novikov, video projectionist Mikki Kunttu, and costume designer Sonya Vartanyan.
According to surveys, more than 60 percent of audiences at World Ballet Company's shows are experiencing ballet for the first time. Gorskaya noted their enthusiasm: "We are thrilled that audiences have responded so enthusiastically to the chance to see ballet in their hometown theaters."
"The Great Gatsby Ballet" will be performed at The Classic Center Theatre in Athens on April 6 at 6:00 pm. Tickets and further details can be found on worldballetcompany.com. For more information or interview requests, contact Nataly Trusova at pr@worldballetcompany.com.
