Chess & Community hosts annual conference focusing on future leaders

The 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference, themed "Future Forward: Game Changers in a Global World," is set to take place in Athens, Georgia. This event aims to inspire young leaders worldwide to innovate and connect through cultural exchange and new ideas.

The conference continues its tradition of using chess as a tool for empowerment. The 2025 edition expects over 500 participants, including educators, community leaders, youth development professionals, and students. It promises to be more than just a gathering; it is described as a movement shaping a brighter world. The event is youth-led and open to families.

Keynote speakers include Zach McLeroy, Co-Founder of Zaxby’s and Founder of The McLeroy Family Foundation, who will discuss leadership and philanthropy. Khary Payton, an actor known for his storytelling skills, will address how diverse voices are influencing global futures.

A notable feature this year is the Ubuntu Cultural Exchange Program. Young leaders from Lagos, Nigeria will join their American counterparts to co-lead the conference. This collaboration between Chess in Slums Africa and Chess & Community Inc. aims to provide fresh perspectives and foster meaningful cultural exchanges.

Interactive activities at the conference include the "Justice Served: Kids vs. Police Chess Competition," "Think Before You Move Scholarship Awards," chess and robotics tournaments, innovative robotics demonstrations, virtual reality experiences, and a chess museum.
