Apalachee High School issued the following announcement on Mar. 10.

Congratulations to Apalachee High School Media Specialist Todd Cates -- Barrow County School System’s 2022 Library Media Specialist of the Year!

AHS Principal Jennifer Martin says Todd goes above and beyond! "Managing and leading a high school media center is a demanding and often thankless position. Mr. Cates embraces his role and he eagerly serves our students and staff daily. I could never manage my duties and responsibilities as a principal without this dependable colleague working alongside me. I am grateful every day for his impact on our students and teachers. He is certainly someone I will always categorize as the very best."

This is Todd’s second time receiving this honor; he also represented Barrow in 2020. He now moves on to the region level, an award BCSS earned for the past two years!

Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) and Georgia Association of Instructional Technology (GAIT) co-sponsor the Georgia School Library Media Specialist of the Year award to recognize K-12 library media specialists with dynamic, innovative programs and whose instructional collaborations foster student engagement and achievement.
