The Jackson County School System has revealed its STAR Student and Teacher for the 2024-25 academic year. Selah Wheeler from East Jackson High School was named STAR Student, choosing Mr. Jonathan Bagley as her STAR Teacher. At Jackson County High School, Andrea Segraves received the honor of STAR Student and selected Ms. Devin Donaldson as her STAR Teacher.
To qualify as a STAR Student, individuals must have the highest SAT score at their school on any single test date through November of their senior year. Additionally, they must rank in the top 10 percent or be among the top 10 students in their class based on grade-point average. The chosen STAR Student then selects a teacher who has significantly influenced their educational journey to be recognized as the STAR Teacher.
Following this recognition at the school level, both the student and teacher advance to compete regionally.
