The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department has announced changes to its collection schedule in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 20, 2025. Services for compost, garbage, recycling, and leaf and limb will be suspended on that day.
For residents and businesses outside the downtown district, collections normally scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday. Similarly, Tuesday's collections will take place on Wednesday, Wednesday's on Thursday, and Thursday's on Friday. Regular service will resume on January 27, 2025. Residents are advised to have their trash and recycling roll-carts at the curb by 7:00 AM on their designated pick-up day.
Those within the Downtown District will not experience any changes to their usual service schedule.
