Due to anticipated impacts from a winter storm, Athens-Clarke County Government (ACCGov) will close its general office operations and workstations for non-emergency personnel on Friday, January 10, and Saturday, January 11. The closure includes all offices, departments, and buildings such as City Hall, the Courthouse, the Satula Avenue Building, the Dougherty Street Government Building, and other facilities.

Several department services are affected:

Animal Services: The Animal Shelter will not be open for drop-offs, adoptions, or visits on both days. Emergency services can be accessed by calling 911.

Solid Waste: Night collections in the Central Business District will continue on Thursday, January 9. Decisions regarding trash and recycling collection services for commercial curbside pickups and other containers will depend on road conditions on Friday and Saturday mornings. Residential collections are not scheduled for Fridays. Both the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) and Landfill will remain closed.

Transit: Bus service is suspended with the Multimodal Transportation Center also closed during this period.

Courts: The Courthouse is closed on Friday. However, filings can still be submitted remotely through designated websites for Superior Court civil cases at www.peachcourt.com and criminal cases at www.ez-filing.net/Georgia. Juvenile Court procedures related to CHINS, delinquency, and DFACS matters remain active. For emergency court-related issues or to speak with a court official urgently, contact Athens-Clarke County Clerk of Court Elisa Zarate at 762-400-6497 or the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff's Department Courthouse Division at 706-613-3250. All court deadlines set for January 10 are postponed until Monday, January 13.

Further updates about ACCGov operations and services will be shared via www.accgov.com/weather as well as ACCGov's social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter.
