The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) has announced the availability of approximately $957,320 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). These funds aim to increase and preserve affordable housing for low-income residents in Athens-Clarke County. The HOME Program funds are intended to provide gap financing to non-profit and for-profit affordable housing development entities.
Applications for FY26 HOME funds are accepted annually and awarded on a competitive basis. The funds will be available starting July 1, 2025, as gap financing for selected eligible housing activities.
HCD will host a virtual meeting to explain how eligible nonprofit organizations and select for-profit organizations can access these federal funds to administer programs targeting Athens-Clarke County housing priorities. The meeting is scheduled via WebEx on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
