The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department has announced that the Memorial Park Dog Park will reopen on Tuesday, July 9, following a complete renovation. The park will be accessible daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset but will temporarily close on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays until noon for turf maintenance.

The renovation addressed the replacement of a century-old sewer line beneath the dog park. New amenities include shade structures, benches, water fountains for both dogs and patrons, and new fencing with entryways/exits at opposite ends of the park. Additionally, concrete pathways have been installed to improve accessibility for individuals with mobility issues. Grass sod has been laid in the park and will require extra maintenance throughout the summer months, hence the adjusted opening times on specific days.

For further information, residents are encouraged to call 706-613-3580.
