Clarke Central High School had the highest enrollment among Clarke County schools, welcoming 1,765 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were male, and 49% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Clarke Central High School students was Black, with 41% of students identifying as such.

Among the 21 schools in Clarke County, Cedar Shoals High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,392 students, while Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School welcomed 716 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Clarke Central High School is part of Clarke County School District, which generally encompasses schools within Clarke County, with its main office in Athens.

In the previous school year, Clarke Central High School also had the highest number of students among Clarke County schools.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
