The Athens-Clarke County Library is hosting two special book discussions this month, one to learn about St. Patrick and one to celebrate Women’s History Month.st patrick biography womens history
On March 15, join us for a discussion of St. Patrick of Ireland: A biography by Philip Freeman. From slavery in Ireland, his escape, and eventual return as a missionary to confront kings and druids with a new faith, Patrick’s life and point in history in the 5th century was far from uneventful. Stop by the Information Services desk to check out a copy, and then join in the discussion on March 15 at 6:30 p.m.
On March 23 at 7 p.m., we launch the first meeting of the Women’s Literature book club, during which we will examine Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche’s We Should All Be Feminists, based on her popular TED talk. We will also discuss her bestseller Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions, a book written in the form of a letter to a friend who asked for suggestions on how to raise a feminist daughter. Both books are short, thought-provoking reads!
