We are thrilled to announce Julia Hodges as the principal for the new elementary school opening in August 2023. The Board of Education approved Ms. Hodges for the top spot at the school during the Jan. 3 Work Session.

"What an honor it is to be named principal of Barrow's 10th elementary school. It is with great enthusiasm that we begin this journey. I look forward to partnering with teachers, parents, and community members to ensure our greatest asset - our children - reach their full potential. We will build a great school community where students are excited to learn."

Ms. Hodges has been principal at Auburn Elementary School since 2017. During her tenure as principal, AES was recognized twice by the Georgia Department of Education as a top-performing Title I Reward School. A Title I Reward School is among the 5% of Title I schools in the state that makes the most progress in improving the performance of the all-students group over the most recent two years on the statewide assessments. For example, Auburn Elementary made impressive gains on their CCRPI scores in 2020 with +19.4 point increase over the prior year. In addition, they earned the full 100 points for Closing Gaps in student achievement.

Prior to leading AES, Ms. Hodges taught for three years at Westside Middle and nine years at Haymon-Morris Middle.
