ACCGov Animal Services, Leisure Services, Solid Waste, Transit & Other Schedules for Thanksgiving

Animal Services

The Adoption Center will be closed Thurs., Nov. 24 and Fri., Nov. 25, resuming regular hours on Sat., Nov. 26 for fosters, adoptions, and rescues by appointment and availability.
Animal Services is offering the Couch Crashers program for weekend fostering of pets from the Adoption Center for the Thanksgiving weekend from Nov. 21/22 - Nov. 28/29. For details, visit www.accgov.com/fosterapet.
Animal Services officers will not be available for non-emergency calls on Thurs., Nov. 24 through Sun., Nov. 27. Non-emergency service calls will resume on Mon., Nov. 28.
Emergency services – such as an animal bite, a seriously sick or injured animal, or an animal trapped inside a living space of a home - will be provided throughout the holiday by calling 911.

Leisure Services

All facilities will close on Thurs., Nov. 24 and Fri., Nov. 25 and reopen on Sat., Nov. 26 under regular hours of operation.
Parks are closed on Thurs., Nov. 24. They will be open on Fri., Nov. 25 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM, but buildings will remain closed.

Solid Waste

Residential and commercial (outside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling collected by the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will not be collected on Thurs., Nov. 24 and Fri., Nov. 25. Garbage and recycling will be collected on the following schedule:
- Regular Monday collection will be collected on Mon., Nov. 21.
- Regular Tuesday and Wednesday collections will be collected on Tue., Nov. 22.
- Regular Thursday and Friday collections will be collected on Wed., Nov. 23.
Residential and commercial (inside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling service will be collected as regularly scheduled.
Leaf & Limb will be suspended the week of Nov. 21, resuming collection on Mon., Nov. 28 in area D.
The landfill will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 24, resuming regular hours on Fri., Nov. 25.
The CHaRM is open on Wed., Nov. 23 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Normally open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, it will be closed on Sat., Nov. 26, resuming regular hours on Tue., Nov. 29.
Solid Waste offices will be closed Thurs., Nov. 25 and Fri., Nov. 26, resuming regular hours on Mon., Nov. 28.
The Materials Recycling Facility will be closed Thurs., Nov. 24, resuming regular hours on Fri., Nov. 25.

Transit

Athens Transit offices will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 24 and Fri., Nov. 25.
There will be no Transit service on Thurs., Nov. 24.
Weekend level with fixed-route service will be provided on Fri., Nov. 25.

Other Offices

All general departmental administrative offices and facilities (City Hall, Courthouse, Satula Avenue Building, Dougherty Street Governmental Building) will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 24 and Fri., Nov. 25. Regular hours of operation will resume Mon., Nov. 28.
