AHS Student Ambassadors Read to Kes Students

Apalachee High School Student Ambassadors enjoyed a morning reading to Kennedy Elementary School students. The Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd Grade students loved the visit from the special guest readers as well!

The Student Ambassadors are seniors who serve as mentors to 9th graders who may need extra support. They give advice, answer questions, help develop healthy friendships, and offer academic support.

The Barrow County School System Graduation Specialists support the Student Ambassador program with the goal of helping students achieve success. Graduation Specialist Andy Dean meets with them twice a month to discuss ways they can be better leaders and how they can support the AHS mission.

Last year, the AHS Student Ambassadors visited Haymon-Morris and Westside Middle Schools to help with “Wildcat 101” - a preview of high school and the Apalachee expectations for freshmen. They also served as tour guides when the rising 9th graders came to visit AHS.

They will visit Auburn, Bethlehem, and Yargo to read in the next few months.
