COUNTY OF CLARKE: Animal Services, Leisure Services, Solid Waste, Transit & Other New Year's Holiday Changes

County of Clarke issued the following announcement on Dec. 29.

Animal Services

Animal Shelter
- Closed Sat., Jan. 1, resuming regular hours on Sun., Jan. 2 for fosters, adoptions, and rescues by appointment and availability.
Animal Services is offering the Couch Crashers program for weekend fostering of pets from the Adoption Center during holidays. Pick-ups for New Year's weekend are on Thurs., Dec. 30 with drop-offs on Mon., Jan. 3 and Tues., Jan. 4. For details, visit www.accgov.com/fosterapet.
Field Services
- Field Services will be available 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Fri., Dec. 31.
- Emergency calls only will begin on Fri., Dec. 31 at 4:00 PM through Sun., Jan 2. Regular service hours will resume at 8:00 AM on Mon., Jan 3.
- Emergency services such as an animal bite, a seriously sick or injured animal, or an animal trapped inside a living space of a home will be provided throughout the holidays by calling 911.

Leisure Services

Facilities
- Fri., Dec., 31 and Sat., Jan. 1 - Closed.
- Sun., Jan. 2 - Reopen under regular hours of operation
Parks
- Fri., Dec., 31 and Sat., Jan. 1 - Reduced hours of 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Sun., Jan. 2 - Reopen under regular hours of operation.

Solid Waste

Residential and commercial (outside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling collected by the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will be collected on a regular schedule the week of Dec. 27-31.
- Monday - Friday pick up days will be collected on the regular day (Monday on Monday, Tuesday on Tuesday, Wednesday on Wednesday, Thursday on Thursday, Friday on Friday).
Residential and commercial (inside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling service will be collecting as regularly scheduled.
Leaf & Limb will collect Mon. Dec. 27 through Fri., Dec. 31 in Area A.
The landfill will be open on Fri., Dec. 31 from 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM, closed on Sat., Jan. 1, and resume regular hours on Mon., Jan. 3.
The CHaRM will be closed on Sat., Jan. 1, resuming regular hours on Tues., Jan. 4. The CHaRM is only open regularly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Solid Waste offices will be closed on Fri., Dec. 31, resuming regular hours on Mon., Jan. 3.
The Materials Recycling Facility will be open on Fri., Dec. 31 and closed on Sat., Jan. 1, resuming regular hours on Mon., Jan 3.

Transit

Transit will be closed on Sat., Jan. 1.

Other Offices

All general departmental administrative offices and facilities (City Hall, Courthouse, Satula Avenue Building, Dougherty Street Governmental Building) will be closed on Fri., Dec. 31. Regular hours of operation will resume Mon., Jan. 3.
