County of Clarke issued the following announcement on Nov. 22.
To promote creative place-making in our community, the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission (ACAC) invites local organizations, groups, and artists to apply for the Fall 2021 Arts in Community Award (AICA) to support a public art project, event, or art activity in Athens-Clarke County that contributes to the vitality, unique identity, and livability of the Athens community.
Two awards at $2,000 each will be issued to fund proposals for public art projects, events, or activities that interpret the theme of “Athens in Color” and contribute to the vitality, unique identity, and livability of the Athens community. "Color" is interpreted across most art forms, from painting to literature and music. Color, too, is often associated with life, vitality, and nature. After a uniquely challenging year for communities around the world, the ACAC seeks proposals on the theme of "Athens in Color" through celebrations, reflections, and other interpretations of Athens, Georgia through art.
The Arts in Community Awards program, formerly known as the Arts in Community Grant (AICG) when established in 2016, has had varying themes, funding amounts, and number of awards each year.
The deadline to apply is Friday, December 17, 2021 by 5:00 PM. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2022. Funded proposals are subject to reporting requirements facilitated by ACAC. Additional details and an application are available online.
