In the first quarter of 2026, ENSH Consulting, LLC owned Winder Center for Nursing and Healing, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Barrow County nursing home has been under this ownership since Feb. 1, 2023.

Winder Center for Nursing and Healing operates as a for-profit facility.

During this time, the nursing home earned an overall CMS rating of 1, falling below Georgia’s statewide average for nursing homes, which stands at 2.7. CMS ratings are determined by factors including health inspection results, staffing levels, and the quality of care given to residents.

The data show Winder Center for Nursing and Healing had an average daily census of 144.4 residents during the first quarter of 2026, with 163 beds available. The facility is not affiliated with a hospital.

In the same period, Winder Center for Nursing and Healing incurred $17,074 in fines and faced two total penalties.

As of the first quarter of 2026, there remained only one for-profit nursing home located in Barrow County, Georgia.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the number of older adults nationwide continues to rise as younger population groups decrease. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 or older grew by 13%, while the number of residents under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last century, the country’s older adult population has expanded significantly, increasing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A study from 2021 estimates that close to half of those age 65 and older, or about 28 million people, are likely to need long-term services and supports at some point. The same study projects that over one-third may ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
