University of Georgia School of Law announces five new faculty hires

The University of Georgia School of Law announced on Mar. 30 the addition of five new faculty members, who will join the institution in various roles over the next two years.

The appointments are expected to enhance the school’s academic offerings and support its goal to educate future legal professionals. The new hires bring expertise in areas such as torts, data privacy, artificial intelligence law and policy, property law, veterans’ legal issues, environmental law, U.S. trade in Africa, and sports law.

Assistant Professor María P. Angel will begin teaching at the School of Law in July 2026 with a focus on torts, data privacy, and AI law and policy. Angel previously served as a resident fellow at Yale Law School’s Information Society Project and received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Assistant Professor Mateusz “Matt” Blaszczyk is also set to join in July to teach property law, technology-related courses, intellectual property, and an undergraduate course on artificial intelligence law and ethics. Blaszczyk comes from the University of Michigan Law School where he was a research fellow.

Clinical Assistant Professor Brenda J. Gohr joined as director of the Veterans Legal Clinic this April after more than 15 years with the U.S. Air Force and private practice focused on veteran legal matters. Taylor Nchako will start as an assistant professor in fall 2027; she currently works for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and will teach property law along with seminars on environmental issues and U.S.-Africa trade relations.

Myles B. Solomon began his role as director of the Sports Law Program last fall after two decades representing NCAA coaches and NFL players as an agent specializing in Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) representation.

The University of Georgia School of Law has earned national recognition for advocacy competitions according to its official website. The school offers experiential learning through 18 clinics and externships while maintaining high graduate employment rates as indicated by its official website. Students have access to extensive resources at Alexander Campbell King Law Library according to official information.
