Over that time frame, the nursing home received an overall CMS rating of two, placing it under Georgia’s 2.7 average for state nursing homes. CMS bases its ratings on factors like health inspection history, staff resources, and the quality of resident care.

The nursing center recorded an average daily census of 98.6 residents and maintained 122 available beds during the first quarter of 2026, according to the data. University Nursing & Rehab Center is not affiliated with any hospital.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that as the nation’s population grows older, the numbers of younger residents shrink. From 2020 to 2024, there was a 13% increase in Americans aged 65 and above and a 1.7% decline in residents under age 18. The older adult population has expanded notably during the last century, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

Research published in 2021 indicates nearly half of Americans in this age bracket—around 28 million—are likely to need some type of long-term service or support. The study further projects that more than a third could ultimately need nursing home facilities.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
