The University of Georgia announced on April 17 that twenty-four employees retired from the institution as of April 1, 2026.

The retirement of these long-serving staff members marks a significant transition for the university community, with many having contributed decades to their respective departments and roles.

Among those retiring are Roger N. Brown, who served as materials handler III in mail and receiving services for over sixteen years; Kimberly Burger, a building services worker II with nearly twenty-six years in facilities management; and Sandra Kate Chambers, a parking compliance monitor who worked more than twenty-four years in transportation and parking services. Other retirees include Becky Curry from the Terry College of Business after fourteen years, Eric Dellinger from the UGA Police Department with twenty-nine years of service, and Vassilka Deltcheva from the Career Center after more than twenty-four years.

Additional notable retirees are Cora Celise Elder from accounting with over twenty-four years at UGA; Philip A. Fitzpatrick from University Libraries after almost twenty-nine years; Sheila W. Marchant from Southeast District County Extension Services following nearly twenty-six years; Karen Shannon-McBrayer at Tifton Conference Center after almost twenty-nine years; R. Jeffrey Stockton who spent over thirty-two years in operations and maintenance; Robert Westerfeld who retires as consumer horticulturist after thirty-five years; among others representing various colleges and administrative offices across campus.

These retirements reflect the dedication and commitment of university staff to supporting students, faculty, research initiatives, public service programs, campus operations, health services, alumni relations, extension activities, technology infrastructure and academic development at UGA.

As these individuals move into retirement following distinguished careers at the university—some spanning more than three decades—their contributions leave a lasting impact on both their colleagues and future generations within the institution.
