Athens-Clarke County seeks proposals for Juneteenth event coordinator

The Athens-Clarke County Government's People & Belonging Department has opened the proposal submission process for a Juneteenth Event Coordinator. This role involves organizing a free public celebration on June 19, 2025, aimed at honoring the history and significance of Juneteenth. The event will focus on educating the community about its lasting impact and celebrating Black culture, voices, and entrepreneurship.

The selected coordinator will handle various responsibilities, including event planning, vendor coordination, securing entertainment, marketing, and ensuring an inclusive experience for all attendees. Key qualifications include proven experience in organizing large-scale community events, strong knowledge of Juneteenth’s historical and cultural significance, ability to coordinate vendors and logistics, and preferred experience with local government and diverse community stakeholders.

Proposals are due by March 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Late submissions will not be considered. Office hours for questions are scheduled from March 10 to March 21, 2025. A pre-proposal webinar is set for March 17, 2025.
