Winterville announces special election to fill unexpired council seat

The City of Winterville's Mayor and City Council decided on February 11, 2025, to inform the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections about a Special Election. This election is scheduled for June 17, 2025, in Winterville, Georgia. It aims to fill the council seat left vacant by Councilperson Tina Mills' resignation.

Those interested in qualifying for this election can do so at the Athens-Clarke County Elections Office located at 155 East Washington Street, Athens, GA 30601. The qualifying period is set for April 1 through April 3, with specific hours each day: April 1 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; April 2 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and April 3 from 8:00 AM until noon. A fee of $126.00 is required for qualification.

The elected individual will assume office immediately after the certification of the election results on June 17 and will serve until December 31, 2025. Voting will take place at the Winterville Cultural Center with polls open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
