The Athens-Clarke County Tax Commissioner’s Office has become part of the Georgia MV Express kiosk program. This inclusion allows residents to utilize 96 kiosks throughout Georgia, offering a streamlined process for renewing vehicle registrations and printing tags. Certain kiosks also offer driver license renewals.

These kiosks are situated in select Kroger and Publix stores across the state. They aim to reduce wait times and extend service hours, including evenings and weekends, providing a convenient alternative to visiting a tag office.

Key advantages for Athens-Clarke County residents include rapid service, with transactions completed in two minutes; extended hours for greater flexibility; enhanced convenience with neighborhood locations; and identity verification at certain kiosks for secure driver license renewals.

The closest kiosk for Athens-Clarke County residents is located at the Epps Village Kroger on Epps Bridge Parkway in Oconee County. It operates daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM but does not currently support driver's license transactions. Residents have access to all 96 kiosks statewide, with details available on the MV Express website.

“We are excited to be a part of the Georgia MV Express kiosk program, which aligns with my commitment to providing Athens-Clarke County residents with more accessible, efficient, and modern government services,” said Athens-Clarke County Tax Commissioner JP Lemay. “By partnering with MV Express, we are making it easier for everyone to access essential vehicle-related services without the burden of long waits and limited office hours.”
