The Athens-Clarke County government has announced a series of schedule and service changes for Veterans Day on Monday, November 11. The Animal Shelter will be closed, resuming normal hours on Tuesday, November 12. Emergency animal services remain available through 911 calls.

ACC Leisure Services parks will operate from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Sandy Creek Park remaining closed as usual. Other department facilities such as Sandy Creek Nature Center and Lyndon House Arts Center will also be closed, reopening the following day.

Solid Waste offices will not operate on Veterans Day. Residential garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day throughout the week. Commercial services in the downtown district will continue as scheduled, while other commercial collections face a similar delay to residential ones.

Leaf and limb collection runs from November 12-15, starting in Area D and moving to Area E. The Materials Recycling Facility and Landfill will close on Monday but reopen on Tuesday with regular hours.

Transit services are suspended for the holiday, with both bus service and transit offices shut down.

General departmental administrative offices including City Hall and Courthouse buildings are also closing for Veterans Day, returning to standard operations on Tuesday.

For more details regarding these adjustments, residents can contact respective departments via provided phone numbers or visit their websites.
