The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking public input on a proposed sidewalk segment along Vincent Drive. This initiative is part of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) 2020 Project 31, known as the Vincent Drive Sidewalk Project.

Residents can attend drop-in public meetings to learn more about the project and provide feedback. These meetings are scheduled for November 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Fire Station #8 located at 3955 Jefferson Road, and November 16 from noon to 2:00 PM at Holland Youth Sports Complex at 250 Vincent Drive.

An online survey is also available for residents who wish to contribute their opinions. The survey can be accessed through www.accgov.com/sidewalks until November 24, 2024. Additional information about the project and a map detailing three different sidewalk options are available on the project webpage.

The proposed options include:

- Option 1: A sidewalk starting at Newton Bridge Road intersection, extending north along Vincent Drive towards neighborhoods like Chesterton Way or Winery Way.

- Option 2: A sidewalk beginning at Holland Youth Sports Complex, heading west along Vincent Drive towards Linnea Way or Vineyard Drive.

- Option 3: A sidewalk commencing at Jefferson River Road, moving east along Vincent Drive towards Vineyard Drive.

The SPLOST funds have allocated approximately $1,877,000 for this project. This budget covers design work, right-of-way acquisition, construction of an ADA-compliant sidewalk, installation of pedestrian safety devices and signs, and other related safety equipment.

For further details or inquiries about the project, individuals can contact the Capital Projects Department by phone at 706-613-3025 or via email at splost@accgov.com. More information is also available on www.accgov.com/splost.
