On October 31, 2024, the Superior Court of the Western Judicial Circuit announced new appointments for its Juvenile Court. Chief Judge Lisa Lott confirmed Amanda Trimble as a full-time judge and Latasha Barnes Prempeh as a part-time judge.

Judge Trimble commenced her second term on October 1, 2024. Judge Prempeh is set to begin her first term on November 1, 2024. Her oath of office ceremony will be held at the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse.

“We are proud to have Amanda Trimble and Latasha Prempeh serve as our Juvenile Court judges and are confident that their breadth of knowledge and work experience will serve Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County well,” stated Chief Judge Lisa Lott. She added that both judges would effectively represent the Western Judicial Circuit and support various programs aiding children and families.

Judge Trimble has been serving since her initial appointment as a part-time judge in 2016. She became a full-time judge in 2020. Before joining the bench, she worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit for over a decade and served as a federal judicial law clerk. She holds degrees from Mercer University.

Judge Prempeh has been with the Western Judicial Circuit since 2013, recently leading in Juvenile Court cases. Her academic credentials include an undergraduate degree from Macon State College and a law degree from the University of Georgia.

The Juvenile Court covers Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County, handling cases involving minors under certain legal circumstances or allegations of deprivation.
