The Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works Department is inviting public feedback on the Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan until November 24. The plan addresses roadway safety and accessibility concerns.

Several events are scheduled to facilitate community engagement. These include a pop-up at the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office Fall Festival on October 25 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Sheriff Training Center Lawn, and another at the AthHalf Expo on November 2 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Classic Center Pavilion.

An online survey is also available for residents to share their input. It can be accessed at www.accgov.com/safestreets and will remain open until November 24.

Athens-Clarke County has secured a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant aimed at enhancing roadway safety across various modes of transportation, including driving, walking, biking, and transit. The Safety Action Plan seeks to reduce injuries and fatalities from road accidents by developing strategies for improved safety.

The initial phase of public engagement is taking place this fall to gather insights that will inform future safety improvements within the plan. Further outreach efforts are planned through December 2025.

For more details about the SS4A Program and Safety Action Plan, interested parties can contact the Athens-Clarke County Transportation and Public Works Department via phone or email.
