The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) has announced the availability of approximately $1,210,965 in federal funding. This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the FY26 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The funds aim to support community development activities that enhance community strength and resilience.

Eligible activities for these funds may include affordable housing, economic development, public services, and improvements to public facilities. Applications for CDBG are accepted annually and awarded competitively. The funds will be available for contracting from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

To guide eligible nonprofit organizations on accessing these federal funds for programs targeting community development and housing priorities in Athens-Clarke County, HCD will host a virtual meeting via WebEx on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 10:00 am.

Interested parties can join the meeting online or view a recording later on the HCD website at www.accgov.com/HCD. For further information or assistance regarding this initiative, Andrea Livingston serves as the contact person at ACC Housing and Community Development Department. She can be reached at 706-613-3155 or via email at andrea.Livingston@accgov.com.
