Athens-Clarke County announces Indigenous People’s Day holiday waste collection schedule

The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department has announced a temporary suspension of compost, garbage, recycling, and leaf and limb collections on Monday, October 14th, 2024. This pause is in observance of the Indigenous People’s Day Holiday.

Residents and businesses outside the downtown district will have their waste collected according to an adjusted schedule:

- Monday's collection will occur on Tuesday.

- Tuesday's collection will occur on Wednesday.

- Wednesday's collection will occur on Thursday.

- Thursday's collection will occur on Friday.

Normal pick-up schedules will resume on Monday, October 21st, 2024. Residents are reminded to place their trash and recycling roll-carts at the curb by 7:00 AM on their designated service day.

For those with commercial or residential services within the Downtown District, collections will continue as per the regular schedule.
