ACCGov’s Housing & Community Development department (HCD) is seeking public comment on its proposed application for the HUD Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing). HCD is requesting $7 million in PRO Housing funding from HUD to support the development and preservation of rental and for-sale affordable housing in Athens-Clarke County. Proposed activities include developing new units, providing down payment assistance, rehabilitating owner-occupied homes, building capacity for local housing partners, and conducting outreach to key stakeholders. These activities align with the Affordable Housing Investment Strategy (AHIS) goals and HCD’s FY21-FY25 Consolidated Plan.

The draft application and other relevant materials are available at www.accgov.com/hcd. Residents of ACC can provide feedback on the proposal between September 30 and October 14, 2024, by email (hcd@accgov.com), phone (706-613-3155), in person or by mail (375 Satula Avenue, Athens, GA 30601). Staff will review and consider feedback received during this 15-day public comment period before submitting the final application to HUD by the October 15 deadline.

On October 1, 2024, the ACCGov Mayor and Commission will vote on approving the submission of this grant application for up to $7 million in HUD PRO Housing grant program funds and accepting the grant if awarded. Public comments shared during the September 17 Agenda Setting and October 1 Voting Session will also be incorporated into the final draft submitted to HUD.

For more information, visit www.accgov.com/hcd or contact the ACCGov Housing and Community Development Department at 706-613-3155 or HCD@accgov.com.
