Due to expected weather impacts from Hurricane Helene, the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) will close general office operations for non-emergency personnel on Friday, September 27. This includes all offices, departments, and buildings such as City Hall, the Courthouse, the Satula Avenue Building, and the Dougherty Street Government Building.

Leisure Services programs, parks, and facilities will also be closed on Friday. Solid Waste night collections in the Central Business District will stop after 10:00 PM on Thursday. The status of trash and recycling collection services for commercial curbside and other containers will be determined on Friday morning. Residential collections do not occur on Fridays.

Transit bus service is scheduled to continue as usual unless conditions worsen. Due to class cancellations at the University of Georgia (UGA), Route 12 will follow a "non-UGA" schedule operating every 55 minutes on both Thursday and Friday.

The Courthouse will be closed on Friday. Filings can still be made remotely through designated websites for Superior Court civil and criminal cases. Juvenile Court procedures related to CHINS, delinquency, and DFACS matters remain in effect. For emergency court matters or to speak with a court official urgently, contact Elisa Zarate at 762-400-6497 or the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff's Department at 706-613-3250. All court deadlines set for Friday are extended until Monday.

Updates about ACCGov operations and services during this period will be available at www.accgov.com/helene and via ACCGov social media accounts.
