In preparation for the upcoming storm, residents are advised to secure their recycling and trash roll carts to prevent them from rolling away and creating unsafe conditions. According to ACC Ordinance, roll carts should not remain at the curb for more than 24 hours. Strong winds can blow recyclables and trash around, leading to litter, while flooding rain can sweep away unsecured containers, posing safety risks on streets. By securing containers, residents help keep streets safe for first responders and solid waste crews.

If strong winds leave branches and limbs in yards, they should not be mixed with trash or recycling. Storm debris can be placed at the curb for collection. Leaves should be put in paper bags, and limbs cut down to no longer than 6 feet and under 4 inches in diameter. The Collection Division can be contacted by email at collections@accgov.com or phone at 706-613-3501 option 7 for storm debris pickup.
