The Athens-Clarke County Housing & Community Development department (HCD) has rescheduled the final community meeting to discuss the proposed goals and strategies for the FY26-30 Consolidated Plan. Initially planned for June 20, the event will now take place on Tuesday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pinewoods Library & Learning Center (1465 Hwy. 29 North, Lot F-14). The meeting will be conducted entirely in Spanish as originally intended.

A document outlining the proposed goals and other relevant materials is available at www.accgov.com/hcd. Over the past two weeks, residents of Athens-Clarke County have had opportunities to provide feedback through various in-person community meetings held on June 6 at the Athens-Clarke County Library, June 11 at the Athens-Clarke County Extension Office, and June 12 at Heard Park. Until June 23, residents can also submit feedback via email (hcd@accgov.com) or by calling HCD at 706-613-3155.

The Consolidated Plan is a five-year strategy that includes a community needs assessment, resource review, and gaps analysis. Required by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), this plan helps communities identify how Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships funding can address needs in affordable housing, economic development, public services, public facilities, and improvements.

HCD will review all relevant feedback before presenting the proposed goals for discussion by the Mayor & Commission during their August/September 2024 agenda cycle.

For more information, visit www.accgov.com/hcd or contact the ACCGov Housing and Community Development Department at 706-613-3155 or hcd@accgov.com.
