ACCGov’s Housing & Community Development department (HCD) is seeking public comment on the proposed goals and strategies for the FY26-30 Consolidated Plan. A document outlining the proposed goals and other relevant materials are available at www.accgov.com/hcd.

Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed FY26-30 Consolidated Plan goals through in-person community meetings on Thursday, June 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Library (2025 Baxter St.); on Tuesday, June 11 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Extension Office (275 Cleveland Rd.); and on Wednesday, June 12 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Heard Park (400 McKinley Dr.). Additionally, a Spanish-language meeting will take place on Thursday, June 20 from 5-6 p.m. at the Pinewoods Library & Learning Center (1465 Hwy. 29 North, Lot F-14).

Between May 31 and June 23, residents are also invited to submit feedback on the proposed goals by email (HCD@accgov.com) or by calling HCD at 706-613-3155.

The Consolidated Plan is a five-year plan that includes a community needs assessment, a resource review, and a gaps analysis. This plan is required by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to help communities determine where Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships funding may fill gaps for development of affordable housing, economic development, public services, public facilities and improvements.

HCD will review and consider all relevant feedback received by June 23 before submitting the proposed goals for discussion by the Mayor & Commission in the August/September 2024 agenda cycle.

In June 2024, HCD will provide several opportunities for residents of Athens-Clarke County (ACC) to learn about and provide feedback on the proposed goals for the FY26-30 Consolidated Plan. Please visit www.accgov.com/hcd for details on these opportunities.

For more information, visit www.accgov.com/hcd or contact ACCGov Housing and Community Development Department at 706-613-3155 or HCD@accgov.com.
