The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department has announced a change in its collection schedule for the Memorial Day holiday in 2024. Compost, garbage, recycling, and leaf & limb collections will be suspended on Monday, May 27th, 2024.
For residential and commercial customers outside of the downtown area, the revised pick-up schedule is as follows: collections usually made on Monday will be shifted to Tuesday; Tuesday's collections will take place on Wednesday; Wednesday's pick-ups will occur on Thursday; and both Thursday and Friday's collections will be consolidated to Friday. The department is set to resume its regular pick-up schedule from Monday, June 3rd, 2024.
Customers are advised to ensure their trash and recycling roll-carts are placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on their respective service pick-up days.
However, for those with commercial or residential service located within the Downtown District, services will proceed according to the regular schedule.
