State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) has revealed a new initiative that will benefit Georgia residents looking to explore the state's natural beauty. The announcement, made by Chairman Wiedower, extends the booking window for accommodations at Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites to 14 months in advance for local residents. This means that Georgians now have the opportunity to secure their bookings one month earlier than out-of-state visitors.
“This initiative guarantees Georgia residents priority access to our state’s natural gems, and I’m honored to collaborate with Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources in establishing this extension,” said Chairman Wiedower. “I encourage all Georgians to take advantage of this extended booking window. Now, it will be easier for families to plan their outdoor adventures, create lasting memories and continue the traditions of enjoying our state parks for generations to come.”
The extended booking window includes access to a variety of accommodations, such as newly renovated full hookup campsites at Vogel, historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) cottages at F.D. Roosevelt, and yurts at Cloudland Canyon, among other facilities across the state.
Georgia residents are urged to make use of this opportunity to plan their outdoor getaways in advance and make the most of the state's natural resources. More information about Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources and reservations for cabins, camping, shelters, and more can be found on their official website.
