The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department has announced the commencement of logic and accuracy testing for all voting equipment intended for use in the upcoming May 21, 2024 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election. The testing is scheduled to kick off on April 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities and Landscape Management Building.

According to the official announcement, the State of Georgia mandates these testing procedures before every election to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voting process. The testing will involve scrutinizing the paper-based voting units, the check-in system, and the optical scan system used for recording absentee ballots.

During the testing process, various aspects of the voting equipment will be meticulously examined. This includes verifying the display of ballots, printing and scanning procedures, vote collection, and tabulation results. Additionally, the touch-screen units will undergo thorough checks to ensure the correctness of race titles, candidate information, and the order of candidates.

Once a machine successfully passes the rigorous testing and is deemed accurate, it will be securely sealed and stored until Election Day. The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department and Board of Elections strictly adhere to all state laws and regulations concerning the testing and storage of voting equipment.

Athens-Clarke County has invited political parties, news media, and the general public to observe the logic and accuracy testing process, emphasizing transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The upcoming General Primary/Nonpartisan Election on May 21, 2024, holds significance for the local community, and the meticulous testing of voting equipment is crucial in ensuring a fair and reliable voting experience for all voters.
