Residents Sought for Positions on Seven Policy-Making Boards by April 5

Residents of Athens-Clarke County are being encouraged to apply for various positions on seven important policy-making boards by the deadline of April 5, 2024. The Unified Government is seeking individuals to fill roles on boards such as the Airport Authority, Classic Center Authority, Hearings Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Relations Commission, Joint Development Authority, and Planning Commission.

According to a recent announcement, incumbents are eligible for reappointment and may reapply for the positions available. Interested candidates must be residents of Athens-Clarke County and can find detailed information about each board, authority, or commission on the official website of the city.

Applications for the positions can be submitted online or obtained in person from the Clerk of Commission's Office at City Hall. The deadline for all applications is set for April 5, with a separate application required for each position being applied for.

The Mayor and Commission have tentatively scheduled interview sessions for the different boards. Interviews for the Classic Center Authority and the Planning Commission are set to take place on Tuesday, April 23, while interviews for the Airport Authority, Hearings Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Relations Commission, and Joint Development Authority are scheduled for Thursday, April 25. The appointments are expected to be made during the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, May 7.
