Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Assistant Manager Josh Edwards has resigned from his position to take on the role of County Manager for York County, SC. The move was announced by Manager Blaine Williams, who expressed both appreciation for Edwards' contributions and well wishes for his future.

Williams stated, "Josh has been a valued Assistant Manager for Athens-Clarke County since he joined our office and has impacted ACCGov tremendously in his time here." He also added, "We're thrilled that he has had an opportunity to advance his career, but we will miss his data-aligned thinking, strategic planning skillset, and positive demeanor here. We all wish him and his family the best as he moves into this new role."

Josh Edwards, before joining Athens-Clarke County, held various public service positions in different locations. During his time with ACCGov, he played a crucial role in achieving Silver Certification from the Bloomberg Philanthropies What Works Cities Certification. Edwards expressed gratitude for his time at ACCGov, saying, “It has been a privilege to serve Athens-Clarke County and ACCGov employees with Manager Williams and the dynamic team in the Manager’s Office.”

In light of Edwards' departure, Manager Williams and Assistant Manager Niki Jones will take over his responsibilities temporarily until a permanent replacement is found through a national search process.
