The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department has announced the upcoming computation and canvassing of the returns of votes cast in the March 12, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary. The event is scheduled to take place at the department's office on March 13, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.

According to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the canvassing and computation process will involve various steps to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the ballot count. This includes reconciling provisional ballots, counting and tabulating all ballots, and including absentee ballots in the final vote. The entire process is open to the public and will continue until completion.

In a public notice, the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department stated, "Pursuant to Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) § 21-2-492, notice is hereby given that the computation and canvassing of the returns of votes cast in the March 12, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary will take place at the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department's Office, located at 155 East Washington Street in Athens-Clarke County, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM."

Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of ensuring that all ballots, including provisional and absentee ones, are accounted for in the final tally. "The canvassing and computation process is open to the public and will take place until completed."
