The Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens, Georgia is excited to announce the opening of its 49th Juried Exhibition. The exhibition will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This year's juror is Jen Sudul Edwards, Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at The Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jen Sudul Edwards meticulously reviewed a remarkable collection of 722 works of art by 265 talented artists from the Athens area. After careful consideration, she selected 160 works by 111 local artists to be showcased in the exhibition. The chosen pieces represent a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, reflecting the creativity and talent prevalent in the Athens art community.
In addition to the selected artworks, multiple awards will be announced by the juror on the opening day of the exhibition. These awards recognize outstanding artistic achievement and provide well-deserved recognition to the talented artists.
To further engage with the community and provide insights into the exhibited works, the Lyndon House Arts Center will be hosting artist talks in the galleries every Thursday evening throughout the month of April. These talks, scheduled for April 4, 11, 18, and 25th, will commence at 6:00 pm and offer visitors a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the artistic process and the inspirations behind the featured works.
The Lyndon House Arts Center would like to express its gratitude to all the Athens area artists who submitted their works for review. Their participation and support are crucial in making this juried exhibition a cornerstone event in the community's art calendar. The continued enthusiasm and generosity of the artists and the public contribute significantly to the success of this annual showcase.
Admission to all exhibitions at the Lyndon House Arts Center is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend. The exhibition will be open during regular gallery hours, which are Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is important to note that children must be accompanied by an adult to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
