Barrow County issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.
Yesterday, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the expansion of the Tanners Bridge Wastewater Treatment Facility!
This expansion pushes the capacity to 1.5 million gallons per day with the ability to expand to 2 million in the future.
What makes this facility special is that it is completely debt-free!
Funding for this $15,565,407.00 project came from the 2018 SPLOST Referendum ($11 million) with the remaining cost being covered by water/sewer unrestricted funds ($3 million) and the repair and replacement fund ($1.56 million). This project did not require the raising of rates or increasing tap fees!
A special thank you to everyone involved who made this project happen!
