Athens Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Feb. 4.
The Thaxton Team made up of Eddy, J.W., and Paul joined Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty as licensed REALTORS® in residential properties.
The Thaxton Team’s origins go way back to 1957 when Jim Thaxton (Eddy’s father) started Thaxton’s Turkeys, INC in Oconee County. Eddy grew up working in the family turkey business like his brother and sister. Eddy was instrumental during its growth years as he managed the field operations and oversaw daily functions. While in the turkey business, Eddy learned how to make things happen and the value of hard work. After nearly 40 years in the business, the market shifted, and the family decided to shut down production.
Once Eddy helped the family business phase out of production, he transitioned into real estate by investing in residential rental properties and obtaining his real estate license. For over 25 years, Eddy has helped numerous clients purchase and sell homes while at the same time building a reputation for hard work, trust, and putting his clients first.
J.W. and Paul grew up watching their dad help people both as a realtor and as a volunteer Firefighter. Many evenings after school, weekends, and summers were spent working on homes and occasionally getting the opportunity to ride with their dad to a fire call. After high school, J.W. and Paul both entered the fire service and worked as career firefighters while also volunteering with Oconee County Fire Department.
Joining efforts in real estate to help people with their real estate needs was just a natural fit after their experience together working in turkey houses, fighting fires, and managing rental property.
