Athens Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.
Walton EMC and the Malcom Bridge Middle School Beta Club recently donated gifts to Piedmont Athens Regional for the pediatric and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients who will spend Christmas in the hospital. Linemen from Walton EMC delivered toys, games, books and more for the hospital’s smallest patients. Beta Club representatives delivered coloring kits and stuffed animals to make spirits bright on the pediatric unit.
“The holidays can be stressful for families with children in the hospital,” said Tammy Gilland, executive director for the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation. “The gifts donated by the Walton EMC linemen and the MBMS Beta Club members will help bring a bit of the holiday spirit to those here during Christmas. We’re incredibly grateful to both groups for their generosity.”
