County of Oconee issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.
The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation recently awarded a “How to Reconsider Litter and Recycle Right” Community Grant in the amount of $1,500 to the Keep Oconee County Beautiful Commission (KOCBC).
The grant will provide funding for KOCBC to educate the Oconee County community on the harmful impact of litter and recycling contamination and to provide information on proper recycling methods through customized handouts.
“So many people want to do the right thing by recycling,” said Keep Oconee County Beautiful Executive Director Cindy Pritchard, “but they may be unsure of which items can be recycled, or they may not know that items for recycling need to be clean. Providing information on how to recycle correctly at county recycling/waste convenience centers in an easy to reference form will be a huge benefit.”
