About 130 people hit the streets around Brenau’s historic Gainesville campus on Saturday, March 11, for the annual Dempsey Dash.

Participants walk or run the 5K route or the 1K Fun Run route. Kevin Tillery came in first place overall in the 5K, and Beckie Dominick came in second. Full results can be found here. The 5K is a qualifying event for the Peachtree Road Race.

The Dempsey Dash is named after late Vice President and CFO Wayne Dempsey. The event raises money for the Wayne W. Dempsey Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to Brenau students in the College or Education or the Ivester College of Health Sciences. The scholarship was first funded in Dempey’s memory in 2014 by an anonymous donor.
