Prince Avenue Christian School issued the following announcement on May 28. 

Prince Avenue Christian School Athletic Director Richard Ricketts was recently inducted into the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame.

An alumnus of Prince Avenue Christian School and a graduate from the University of Georgia, Richard Ricketts began teaching and coaching at Prince Avenue in 1991 and was appointed Athletic Director of the school in 1996. In addition to his administrative duties, Ricketts has been the head coach of both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams. As the girls’ coach, he won the Region Championship in 2010 and 2018 and has been to the state tournament five times including 2017 and 2018 trips to the Elite Eight.  He has been named Region Athletic Director of the Year eight times, and in 2022, Ricketts was named Class-A Private State Athletic Director of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association.

As Athletic Director, Coach Ricketts has developed Prince athletics into a highly respected comprehensive and competitive program for students of all ages.  During his tenure at Prince, Coach Ricketts has added middle school and varsity softball; middle school, JV and varsity football; girls and boys middle school, JV, and varsity tennis; girls and boys middle school, JV, and varsity golf; middle school and varsity cross country; girls and boys middle school and varsity soccer; middle school and varsity fishing; and numerous elementary sports.

Started in 2000 by Coach Billy Henderson, the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame celebrates the accomplishments of local athletes and coaches and recognizes their contributions to the Athens community at large.
