Wilson Associate Professor in Business Law Laura Phillips-Sawyer has contributed a chapter to the forthcoming book “Can Democracy and Capitalism Be Reconciled,” edited by S. Miller and S. Milkis and published by Oxford University Press in 2025. Her chapter, titled “The Problem of Market Power in Postwar America: Antitrust Law, Accountability, and Changing Ideas of Market Power,” explores how market power has been addressed through antitrust law and the evolution of ideas around economic accountability in postwar America.

Phillips-Sawyer’s research adds to ongoing discussions about the intersection of democratic governance and economic systems. The book examines various perspectives on how democracy and capitalism interact and whether they can be balanced within modern societies.
