The facility offered 167 beds in total, which was 48 more than the county average during the reporting period. On average, 81.7 residents were assisted each day.

The CMS gave Northridge Health and Rehabilitation an overall rating of 4 out of 5, outperforming the average rating of 2.7 seen among Georgia nursing homes.

Hill Haven Nursing Home ranked second in size in Jackson County for the quarter, providing 70 available beds.

U.S. Census Bureau data estimates indicate the nation’s older adult population continues to rise, while populations in younger age brackets are declining. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and above rose by 13%, while the number under age 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population has greatly expanded, climbing from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study estimates that nearly half of this age group—around 28 million people—may need some form of long-term services and support. Further projections indicate that more than a third could ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
