Kennedy Elementary enrolled 232 Hispanic students in the 2024-25 school year, a 1.8% increase compared to the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
Reports show the school’s overall enrollment reached 727 students for 2024-25. Hispanic students accounted for 32% of the student population, making them the school’s second-largest demographic group.
Situated in Barrow County School District, the school’s main office is based in Winder.
Among Barrow County School District’s 16 schools, Apalachee High School reported the most Hispanic students in the 2024-25 year, enrolling 593.
The National Center for Education Statistics data indicated Georgia’s public school students were approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
The Georgia Department of Education noted that following the pandemic, chronic absenteeism remains a concern with 20.7% of students absent for 10% or more school days in 2024. The State launched a statewide strategy introducing a live attendance dashboard, an awareness campaign, and more support targeted toward high-need districts to improve attendance.
In 2025, lawmakers in Georgia revised school attendance rules to prohibit expulsion for absenteeism alone. The revised law also establishes added reporting duties and syncs with initiatives allowing students to complete diploma requirements via alternative approaches.
By 2026, Georgia had an estimated student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, which improves on the U.S. average of 15:1.
